Shelly earned her Masters Degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences from Wayne State University in 1985 where she was named Undergraduate Clinical Student of the year. She is also a Limited Licensed Psychologist, who graduated from The Center for Humanistic Studies in Detroit in 1982.

Shelly received her Certificate of Clinical Competence from, and is a member of, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She is also a member of the Michigan Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and the Michigan Association of Professional Psychologists.

Before opening Milstein Speech and Language Services, Inc. Shelly worked for over twenty years on staff at William Beaumont Hospital’s Center for Childhood Speech and Language Disorders. In May, 2003, the Lions Clubs International presented Shelly with the Paul Nichols Silent Children Award, for her outstanding devotion to assistance for the Silent Children’s program at Beaumont Hospital.
